Halloween is Happenin’

What a fun ~ fun time we had this year trick-or-treating:-) The costumes were the best….everyone thought we were all soooo cute:-))) Kippy was a blue Blow Fish, Lily was a Banana Split, Bomber Moose was a Monkey and I, Brassy Sue, was a witch!!! On Saturday we got to go to Auntie’s Studio www.colorsplashstudio.com and pass out candy to all the kids in town. Whew!!! I’ve never seen so many kids in all my dog years!!! On Sunday we got to dress up in our costumes again ~ but THIS time WE got to be the kids:-) First stop was Grandma’s house. She always has lots of people at her house on Halloween and everybody loved our costumes!!! Grandma’s are the best because she always have special treats for us:-))) Mom doesn’t know that Grandma has a special “stash” just for us kids….and we’re not telling her:-) Hope your Halloween treatin’ was as fun as ours!!!

We don’t know what your yard looks like but we are having a blast playing in all the leaves:-) We’re kinda bummed that it’s too cold to go swimming, but we’re loving this cooler weather! Nothing is more fun than running thru the leaves and chasing squirrels:-) Sometimes we even find an old “chewey” that we kinda forgot about ~ and when that happens…..we just have to lay in the leaves for a bit and give it a chew:-) Mom’s got the place all decorated for fall with the punkins and everything. She’s even got the bows in our hair because she likes us to look festive! Happy Halloween!!!

Woofstock Fest 2009

What a great day we had at the first annual Woofstock Fest. They offered something for everyone from agility demonstrations to an extreme doggy makeover. Owners and their dogs were relaxing in the warm sunshine as the weather could not have been better. Not too hot and not too cold. It was a paw-fect day:-) If you missed it this year, you’ll have to make it a “must do” for next year. Here are some photos that we took highlighting the day from our booth. It was fun outfitting the dogs in new collars and harnesses. We can’t wait for next year!!!:-)

Carmel, California for Spring Break anyone??????

There are always two big questions when it comes time to plan a trip. What are we going to do with the dogs? and where should we go? I think I have your answer for you. If it’s not your answer, it might be mine:-) Looks like “Carmel-by-the-Sea: Dog Heaven on Earth” is where everyone will be happy. In this read you will find that they have everything covered. The hotels, restaurants, shops and galleries welcome canine companions, with some going as far as to offer special doggie menus and treats. Preparing your dog for the new baby

It seems like a lifetime ago when I was trying to prepare our Bassett Hound, Fred, for the arrival of our first child. Imagine my thoughts of envy when I found this cd – Baby Sounds For Pets. My first thought was “I could have used that”!!!! But then I just decided to be excited for those of you that are lucky enough to have something like this available to you. This is so perfect for getting your furry friend ready to “move it on over” and be the “big dog” instead of the baby. Every dog is different and some have a harder time than others but all of them require lots of patience. And if you’ll ever notice, couples always seem to get a dog first, then have children. Do you think this somehow is a prequel to the real thing? Well, the bottom line is……if you don’t have the patience, just get the cd. Back in the day, and I mean WAY back in the day, my Mother would have told me “play the cd every day….it makes for good birth control”. Well…….28 years and two kids later I think “the cd? – the kids – the cd? – the kids”. Maybe I didn’t listen to it long enough:-) She must have left that part out:-)

Bubble Machine for Dogs

As you all know, I’m always looking for something unique and cool for our dogs to play with. As it has turned out for me, sometimes the things that they like to play with the most are stupid things like…… a bottle cap, sticks with leaves, a sock…..well, that was easy:-) But my inner self still has to keep searching for that one thing that is just going to make their day – or mine. So as luck would have it, here is my latest find. A bubble blower for dogs. These aren’t just plain bubbles, oh no, they are scented bubbles. These bubbles are bursting with Sizzlin’ Bacon, Peanut Butter and Bar-B-Q Chicken. Definitely something that my dogs are just going to love. Let me know if yours do too.

Hump Day

What is “hump day”? I always thought that “hump day” was a day of the week – more specifically – Wednesday. That’s just a given in the work-a-day world of humans. Have you ever scheduled a “play” day for your dogs? We have tried this with our dogs and we have invited their “friends” over for a play day. We decided that the best day for us to schedule this “play” day every week was on Wednesdays. We were pretty much caught up with things that needed to be done and over the “hump” – looking forward to the weekend:-) So we have our first few Wednesday play days and we discover that maybe we picked the wrong day of the week. Some of these dogs think that “Wednesday” is “hump day” and they are totally confused about the meaning of the whole day. Thinking that we have made a terrible mistake by picking “Wednesday” we decide to pick a different day. Guess what? The day that is picked doesn’t matter. Some dogs think that every day is “hump day”. So we have learned to spend more time on inviting the dogs that want to “play” and not invite the “humps”.

I love finding cool things for my furry friends. Sometimes I don’t know whether the “find” is for me or them:-) but who cares?
